The distance between analogous points in a wave train, measured perpendicular to the wavefront. In seismic data, the wavelength is the seismic velocity divided by frequency. Wavelength is defined as:
λ = v / f,
where
λ = wavelength
v = velocity of propagation
f = frequency.
