Pertaining to a type of filter medium in which the particles are fused together to give a designed permeability. Sintered filters are used in the API high-pressure, high-temperature filtration test above about 375 degF [190 degC] and in laboratory tests of formation damage. Large-scale sintered filters are also used to clean up clear brines after use.
